Welcome

Hi there, My name is Carol Alexander-Price, and I am an Independent Celebrant here in northern Spain. Welcome to my page!.

First of all, congratulations on choosing your date and venue and secondly, if you are looking for an non-traditional Celebrant full of fun then you have come to the right place.

When I´m making plans with my couples I´m at my happiest

What should you consider when choosing a celebrant?

Everyone deserves the perfect ( for them) ceremony, so it is really important to get it right when you look for your celebrant. A good rapport is essential, because your celebrant will be with you for almost all of the planning process so they need to be someone you trust, like and get along with.

You should choose someone who understands your vision, who listens and creates a ceremony that really reflects you.

Look at how this person presents themselves, how they communicate, look at their gestures. Don´t forget your celebrant is going to be with you in front of your family and friends on one of the most important days off your life.

I am a down to earth empath with a very calm and peaceful personality and I love creating personalised ceremonies that reflect my clients wishes and dreams.

If you think that I could be the right celebrant for you then get in touch. Call or send a WhatsApp to 0034 606200926.

What happens next?

So you have decided that you would love me to create your bespoke ceremony. woohoo!! We´ve checked that I am available on your date and you´re happy with my price, so what happens next?

Well first of all my terms and conditions will need to be agreed and signed and your 30 % booking fee should be paid to reserve the date and then our journey can really begin.

Carol you truly are amazing and I would recommend you to anyone looking to get married in Spain. – Helena Jackson (UK)

Starting around 9 months before your big day and through a series of meetings (or emails if it´s easier for you), we will get to know each other more and after some very carefully thought out questions I will create your unique ceremony. This will lead up to around 2 months before the wedding when we will agree a final draft.

Throughout this time, I will advise you about the content and order of your ceremony and your all important vows and basically guide and support you both.

How to order your Ceremony and what content to include

The beauty of a celebrant- led wedding is there are no restrictions on wording or even order. So you can choose a very traditional style ceremony or something a bit different (or even a mixture of both . As a rule people like the more traditional walk down the aisle but if you are having a micro or small wedding you might prefer to walk in together and everyone to gather around. It´s entirely up to you and of course something we will talk about.

Below I´ve noted some of the content that couples generally like to be included in their ceremony.

Your love story

Your wedding ceremony or vows renewal is the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane and gently remind everyone of the true reasons why you are all together on that very special day. Take some time to remember and rejoice in what you have overcome and what you have achieved. Every ceremony has a different love story, one couples journey can be completely different to another couples journey. As your celebrant it will be my privilege to write your love story.

Personal Vows

Writing personal vows, for some, is a real headache and what a lot of people don’t realise is that vows should be similar in tone and length and as it’s not usual for couples to talk to each other about their vows, I as your celebrant, will be there as your 3rd party. I will guide and help you both separately until you are 100% happy that you’ve got it right.

However if you are really concerned that you´ll forget you words, there are different ways to write vows, such as question vows which are a series of questions usually led by the Celebrant. Statement vows which usually include pledges and promises that couples can personalise to suit them. and many more that I will explain to you in full.

Symbolic rituals

A unity wedding ritual can add a whole new layer to your ceremony. There are some truly beautiful rituals, including some that date back for centuries. They can add depth and meaning to your already beautiful vows and also give you an opportunity to involve your loved ones on your day. Some of the most popular are hand-fasting and sand ceremonies but there are many more. As your celebrant I will talk you through the different types of rituals and help you decide if it´s something you want to include in your ceremony.

Readings, poems, songs and special mentions

I think most of us share a special reading, poem or song with our partner and a celebrant will help you to organise your ceremony to include them. In addition to this, you may want to include a special mention to someone who has been there for you during difficult times or to a friend or family member who for some reason cannot make you day or is no longer with us.

Don´t worry about this too much if you are feeling overwhelmed and undecided because I will get a feel for what kind of content you might like from your emails and/or our conversations and will create something super special that will reflect who you are, including your passions, beliefs and traditions.

So, if you have found your venue and decided on your date, now it´s time to book your Wedding Celebrant. Don´t hesitate to contact me, I´m really looking forward to meeting you.

About me

Talking to my couples on zoom is the best therapy there is.

Hi everyone, I’m Carol and I am a qualified Independent Celebrant. I live in a small hamlet in the region of Palencia in the stunning north of Spain with my four rescue dogs and three cats. I officiate at weddings, vow renewals, naming and celebration of life ceremonies in Madrid, Castile y Leon, Aragon, Navarra, La Rioja, Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia.

A snap shot of me

  • I played an extra in the TV series ´Harry¨ which was filmed in Darlington. A second series was never made, I hope that wasn´t a reflection on my acting skills.
  • I spent 18 months working on two cruise ships as a Fitness instructor. My favourite part of the day was running seven times around the ship with my lovely passengers at 7am. The programme called it…..run a mile with a smile with Carol.
  • I walked the whole 800 kms of the Camino de Santiago without finding out where it was or what it entailed beforehand. It was the most difficult and the most life-changing thing I´ve ever done.
  • I once chatted quite happily with a chap in Fulham because his face was familiar and I just assumed I knew him. As he walked away I realised it was Dirty Den from Eastenders.
  • I had my first (and only) motorbike when I was seventeen and then moved swiftly onto cars after that.
  • I left full-time work in London to take up a law degree at Newcastle university when I was 37.
  • When I was at a Michael Jackson concert at Wembly, I met Chris Tarrant so I asked him to autograph a 5 pound note. then promptly spent it in the bar (it was a lot of money in those days)

Why hold your special ceremony in northern Spain?

Northern Spain is a wonderfully diverse part of Spain and each region has something special to offer. The north of Spain is incredibly romantic and is the perfect escape if you prefer solitude and luscious countryside

To the north you will encounter the incredibly beautiful coast where cliffs alternate with long beaches of clean white sand and the snow topped mountain peaks that rise above coniferous and eucalyptus forests.

In the province of La Rioja you can enjoy the rolling hills and famous vineyards. In Galicia you will find verdant lush forests criss crossed with a thousand small rivers . Not to mention the stunning old towns in cities such as Madrid, Santiago de Compostela, Leon, Burgos, Logrono (to mention a few) with their winding streets steeped in history and lined with buzzing tapas bars.

Vow Renewal Ceremonies

The absolute beauty of a Vow renewal ceremony is that as you are already married and have your marriage certificate so there is no need for any legal content in your ceremony.

There are many reasons why people decide to renew their vows. Maybe you’ve reached 5, 10, 25, 50 years of marriage and simply want to show the world what you’ve achieved together and how lucky you’ve been to find real happiness.

Perhaps you were unable to have the wedding of your dreams first time around and would dearly love to celebrate your wedding your way. Or has your relationship been through a hard time recently and survived and you want to recommit to your marriage and make a fresh start.

Let´s decide together exactly what to include or what not want to include in your ceremony. Do you want to repeat your original vows and bless your original wedding rings? or are you looking forward to a new start?

Because your baby is your world

Naming Ceremonies

Welcoming a new child into the world or an adopted child into your family is one of life´s very special moments. Recently it has become much more popular for parents to choose a celebrant led ceremony to introduce their baby to family and friends, but why?

Well, a baby naming ceremony is an alternative to a religious ceremony and gives you the freedom to adapt the ceremony according to your wishes. There are so many ways you can mark this amazing day. you could include elements such as songs, special poems or readings or even a ritual for example hand and foot printing which is a fun way to involve all the family and make the day even more memorable.

There is no legal content in a baby naming ceremony so you are free to choose your location. How about outdoors in the garden or on a terrace, maybe at a beach chiringuito or in a private villa, even in your own home here in Spain. After all your child is your whole world and that is worth celebrating.

If you would like me to create a personalised ceremony for this important celebration then get in touch.

What can we expect during the Ceremony?

  • I will arrive at least 1 hour before you ceremony and will supply my own P.A. system. It´s really important that the sound system is good quality so that everyone can hear.
  • I will liaise with your event planner or venue to ensure that the ceremony will go without a hitch, taking care of any logistical issues that could potentially affect your ceremony .
  • I will perform and manage your ceremony, help calm your nerves and prompt and guide you when you need it.
  • Overall I will do my upmost to start this amazing day with a fun filled, thought provoking, joyful ceremony.
  • In addition to all of the above you will be asked to signed a commemorative certificate as a keepsake of your special day.
